The humble Apple Strudel is a wide spread dessert all through Austria. The Viennese variant requires a see-through pulled dough. The household rule is that it needs to be thin enough to read your morning paper through it. Rolled in this paper thin pastry is a jumble of butter-roasted breadcrumbs, sugar, sultanas, cinnamon and a dash of lemon. A whole strudel is about $40cm long and give you 6-10 pieces depending on size.
